Dear Consumer,

John Polhemus

Unfortunately, the tire industry and specifically Bridgestone-Firestone, has been hit with another negative situation with Ford's announcement of a planned 13 million tire recall of all Wilderness AT tires. This is on top of the previous 6.5-million tire recall that was conducted last summer.

As a tire manufacturer committed to provide safe, high quality tires for consumers, Goodyear regrets the fact that this situation has arisen. At the same time, we are prepared to do whatever is necessary to help consumers get the right tires on their vehicles as quickly as possible. To this end, we are urgently implementing plans to ramp up production to meet customer needs.

Our relationship with the Ford Motor Company has been a long- standing one based on trust and mutual respect, and we are working very closely with them to jointly develop an aggressive plan to address consumer needs as quickly as possible. Details of the plan will be posted on our website, as well as other locations, as soon as they are finalized.

In the first Firestone recall, Goodyear associates worked extremely hard to produce millions of tires. In fact, our company produced more than 3 million tires to aid in that recall effort. You can expect the same type of dedication by Goodyear workers once more. Goodyear is prepared to do whatever is necessary to help. Again, we will work around the clock to assure everyone seeking a set of Goodyear tires for replacement can get one.

Tires, and tire conditions are critical to the performance and safety of any vehicle. As vehicle owners, you should check your tires, right now. Or if you'd prefer, stop by any Goodyear dealer and have them check your tires for you.

Sincerely,

John C Polhemus
President
Goodyear North American Tire
