2019 Dunlop SP Sport® 5000 215/45R18 89W


Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (SRI) is conducting a recall after it determined that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires, size 215/45R18 89W, manufactured March 3, 2019, to March 9, 2019.

Recall Details

Summary of Recall


Tires produced during the relevant production period were produced with an out-of-specification rubber compound. Affected tires may allow sections near the tread surface to become partially detached, decreasing vehicle stability and thereby increasing the risk of a crash.


To determine if your tires are included in this recall campaign, please check the DOT number found on the sidewall of the tire. Please be sure to check your spare tire as well.


If you have difficulty determining whether you own a recalled tire, please contact or visit your nearest Goodyear dealer for assistance.


If you own one or more of the subject tires, the tire(s) will be replaced at no charge to you with another 215/45R18 89W Dunlop SP Sport 5000 that is outside the affected date range, including mounting and balancing. To be eligible for a free replacement, you must return your tires to an authorized dealer on or before June 30, 2020. Please take this letter to the dealer at the time of your appointment.

Affected tires are those with the following Tire Identification Numbers found on the sidewall of the tires:


Tire Size DOT # Range
215/45R18 89W V4X0AMDR0919

The tire size (P215/60R16 in this example) can be found on the sidewall of your current tires. Take a look to make sure that you have the correct size.


Passenger tires


Most tires will indicate the size on the sidewall in the following order:

  1. Tire Width (215 in this example)
  2. Aspect Ratio (60 in this example)
  3. Rim Diameter (16 in this example)


High-flotation tires


High-flotation tires will indicate the size on the sidewall in the following order:

  1. Overall Diameter
  2. Section Width
  3. Rim Diameter

Tie size location

DOT (stands for Department of Transportation) means that the tire complies with all applicable transportation safety standards established in the United States. The DOT or serial number must begin with the letters "DOT" followed by a combination of numbers and letters up to 12 characters. You can find the DOT number on the sidewall of your tires as shown in the example below.
